Canberra Gang Show 2025


A Gang Show is made up of a wide variety of roles, some in the spotlight and others working quietly behind the scenes. Every role is essential to the overall success of the production.

Here is a list of the Role available:

Cast

For those who like to sing, dance or act on stage

Over 11 and under 30 years old on opening night on 9-Jul-2025

Band

We have a live band playing a variety of instruments

14 years old and over and must have 3 years of experience in their chosen instrument

Tech

Tech has several roles including building the sets (woodworking and painting), moving sets during performances, lights and audio

15 years old and over

Makeup, Wardrobe, Props

Makeup make our cast look beautiful under bright lights
Wardrobe is manages all our existing clothing as well as buying and making new clothing
Props

15 years old and over

Ushers

Ushers check tickets and escort patrons to their seats

18 years old and over

Front of house

Selling programmes and canteen sales

8 years old and over, and must be supervised by parent or guardian at all times

Everything else

In addition, cast members will be required to provide certain items such articles of clothing and footwear.

The following will then happen:

  1. If you have nominated for Cast, you will be sent an Operoo form.  You will then be asked to attend an interview for us to get to know you better.
  2. If you have nominated for Band, you will be contacted by the Music Director before being sent an Operoo form.
  3. If you have nominated for Tech, you will be contacted by the Tech Director before being sent an Operoo form.
  4. If you have nominated for any other position, you will be contacted by the Gang Show Producer before being sent an Operoo form.
  5. Separate Operoo forms will be sent for all optional activities.

 

Expectations

Gang Show draws in people from both Guiding and Scouting in a wide range of age groups.  Each of these has its own constitution, behaviour standards and other rules, so for this activity, we will all need to adhere to a single set of expectations.

  1. The Guide Law and Promise and Scout Law and Promise will be adhered to at all times.
  2. There is to be no alcohol, smoking or vaping on during Gang Show activities including by members over 18.
  3. Photos or videos are not to be taken or published on social media of any Gang members without their explicit permission. We have an official photographer who will publish to a closed Facebook site.

All Gang Show members under 18 must be uniformed Girl Guides or Scouts. Members over 18 must be either uniformed members of Girl Guides or Scouts or they must be willing to become a Scout “Adult Supporter” prior to commencing their roles (Scout Adult Supporters require an application, references and to undertake two short online e-learning modules).

Non-ACT Scouts members will provide their formal registration via Operoo. 

Operoo is Scout ACTs document management system and is used for providing information, taking payments and getting parental or self-consent to attend activities.
