Kub Kar Rally 2019

A nice winter’s day and 249 Cub Scouts proved to be just the right ingredients to make this year’s Kub Kar Rally (our fourteenth) a success.  The Rally was held at Amaroo School Gym on Sunday 23 June 2019.

A new badge featuring a military tank was designed for the event by Tyler Trustum from Merino Pack, Well Station.

After a BBQ lunch put on by Well Station Scout Group, racing was conducted in earnest.  The honour of creating the fastest kub kars (over 20 races) went to the following Cubs:

2019 Race Champion  Lily Saunders (Macarthur)
2nd Place     Lachlan Li (Les Explorateurs)
3rd Place Asher Fitzgerald (Jumbuck Pack, Well Station)

Austin Mendl (Majura Mountain)

Hamish Winn (Les Explorateurs)

Lucas Parsons (Air Scouts)

Daniel Brown (Diamantina)

Jamie Connor (Weston)

Joe Wilcock (Mount Mugga)

In the “Design Only” Category, the following Cubs produced noteworthy works of art:

Best Detail – Markis Makridis (Air Scouts) – a coffin;

Funniest – Ines Clugston (Mount Mugga) – a Jabba the Hutt sail barge (Return of the Jedi);

Most Original – Abigail Kohn (Duntroon-Campbell) – a blue duck-billed water dragon.

We know our Cubs are a determined lot, but how keen were some Cubs to be at the Rally?  Recovering at home from surgery didn’t deter one Cub who had made a kub kar and was disappointed at not being able to attend the Rally to race his kar.  Brother and Dad were going to the Rally, so Dad kindly “participated” by doing a few laps of honour with his son’s kar!  Where there’s a will, there’s a way!
