The Branch Commissioner, Child Protection will lead and manage the ongoing delivery of the Scouts ACT child protection function. This pulls together expertise from our scouting community and advocate for Scouts ACT to put child protection, at the forefront of our operations.

The Branch Commissioner Child Protection and Issues Management provides branch-level support and training to members faced with child protection and other related challenges and provides members with connections to appropriate professional services as required.

The Branch Commissioner Child Protection will:

  • Provide assistance, advice and support to the Assistant Chief Commissioner Personnel and Governance, especially in regard to areas of child protection and issues management.
  • Ongoing management of child protection matters, issues and referrals.
  • Conduct inquiries in relation to child protection matters, issues and referrals.
  • Manage data holdings relating to child protection matters in accordance with
  • branch policy and legal obligations.
  • Develop and deliver programs within their area of responsibility.
  • Be an advocate and provide support for issues relating to child protection in Scouts ACT.

The Branch Commissioner, Member Wellbeing and Support will lead and manage branch-level training to support members faced with mental health and other welfare challenges and provide members with connections to appropriate professional services as required.

The Branch Commissioner, Member Wellbeing and Support manages the incident reporting for Scouts ACT and provides support and advice on issues and their management including directing issues to appropriate resources in and outside the Personnel and Governance Team.

The Branch Commissioner Member Welfare will:

  • Provide assistance, advice and support to the Assistant Chief Commissioner Personnel and Governance, especially in regard to areas of member wellbeing and support
  • Lead and manage the development of, and ongoing functioning of, incident reporting (including complaints and grievances)
  • Develop and deliver programs for WHS, MHFA and First Aid and other areas of responsibility for Scouts ACT
  • Be an advocate and provide support for issues relating to mental health, WHS and incident management in Scouts ACT
  • Grow the cohort of people within Scouts ACT with skills providing support for issues relating to mental health, WHS and incident management including through providing and coordinating appropriate training courses.

The Branch Commissioner Policy will provide advice and support to the Assistant Chief Commissioner People and Governance and the Governance and Risk Sub-committee on governance, including delegations, policy and procedure.

The Branch Commissioner Policy will:

  • Provide assistance, advice and support to the Assistant Chief Commissioner People and Governance and the Governance and Risk Sub-committee especially in regard to policy.
  • Develop and maintain policy and procedure templates, update the policy architecture into policy, procedure and guidelines, database, review schedule and
  • provide best practice policy architecture, including the development of policies, procedures and guidelines as needed.
  • Provide advice and support in the development and review of policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Contribute to the development of the allocated programs and activities, including the Policy Working Group.

The Branch Commissioner Diversity and Inclusion will lead and manage the ongoing functioning of the Scouts ACT Diversity and Inclusion panel. The panel pulls together expertise from our scouting community and advocate for Scouts ACT to put diversity and inclusion, at the forefront of our operations.

The Branch Commissioner Diversity and Inclusion provides group level support and advice to enable groups to manage diversity and inclusion challenges effectively.
